
About this qualification
The main aim of the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2
Diploma for Beauty Specialists
Is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide beauty specialist treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the beauty therapy industry.
Entry Requirement
The learner must be 18 years or older.
The following is the learning assumed to be in place: Communication Skills and
Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.

Units
Care of the skin
To include consultation, skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage and the use of face masks.
Care of the eyebrows and eyelashes - To include shaping and lash and brow tinting.
Care of the hands and feet
To include nail care, exfoliation, massage and nail painting and specialised treatments.
Waxing - Depilation
To include removal of hair using hot and warm wax methods.
Manicures and Pedicures
Is the care of the hands and feet to include : exfoliation, massage and nail painting
​Health and safety
To include and develop knowledge about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential to work and be successful in the beauty industry.
Anatomy and Physiology 1
The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the beauty treatments and understanding the structures that the learner will be working over, in particular recognition of skin types, skin and nail diseases and reasons that may affect whether a client should or should not be treated.
Science and Chemistry 1
Deals with the properties, composition, and structure of substances.
Professional Conduct
To include a sound knowledge that all member are obliged to uphold the dignity of the profession and shall conduct themselves in conformity with good taste and professional decorum.
Members agree to act honourably towards their clients and fellow practitioners.
Members agree to maintain the confidentiality of their clients at all times.
First aid
To gain confidence for emergency situations and gain essential skills and knowledge.
Product Knowledge ​​​​
Makeup
Makeup, is a technique that focuses on creating a smooth, natural-looking finish that looks great both in person and on camera. It involves using specialized products designed to blend seamlessly into the skin, minimizing the appearance of imperfections and creating a radiant glow.
The learner will learn to : Apply make-up products, recognise face shapes
and do corrective make-up to include :vday makeup , evening makeup, wedding makeup and makeup for special occasions.
Dermatology
Deals with the diseases and disorders of the skin, hair and nails.
