These qualifications will prepare you for a career as a nail technician that includes
UV gel applications, enhancements and techniques.
The qualification consists of 3 mandatory units.
The main skills the learner will perform are:
Care of the nails on the hand including hand massage and application of polish.
Care of the nails on the feet including foot massage and application of polish.
Applying and maintaining nail enhancements - gel and wraps.
The learner will also develop knowledge of related health and safety, client care, communication and professional conduct and business awareness which are essential to working and being successful in the beauty and nail industry.
This qualification also provides:
The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the nail treatments as well as understanding the structures that the learner will be working over.
In particular the anatomy and physiology of the skin and nails and common diseases and disorders that my affect when the client should or should not receive treatments.​
DELIVERY
KNOWLEDGE
ONLINE THEORY
Modules are divided into sections, with a quiz at the end of each section.
TRAINING COMPONENTS’ SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1:
Understand and explain, analyse, compare, discuss and contrast the theoretical learning area concepts underlying the treatment performance for applying gel nail
techniques on the finger and tow nails.
Upon successful completion of the online theory section, you will be required to
attend 3-days practical training sessions.
PRACTICAL ON SITE - 3 DAYS
TRAINING COMPONENTS’ SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2:
Perform, illustrate and indicate how a appropriate gel nail techniques is performed using the required implements and materials. Considering the health and safety precautions and contra indications.
CASE BASED
TRAINING COMPONENTS’ SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3:
Undertake, evaluate and record (in a portfolio or research report) the findings of the complete gel nail (hands and feet) case studies in which the required implements and materials are used.​​
Entry requirement
Learners accessing this qualification will have to demonstrate competence in:
Communication skills at NQF Level 3.
Mathematical literacy skills at NQF Level 3.
Learners must complete the manicure and pedicure Certificate or Unit standard as it is a
pre requisite for gel nail techniques.
Exit
The learner must meet the exit criteria for the knowledge based component, the practical based component and the case based component.
