This short course is designed to prepare you and set you aside in the bridal hair and makeup industry.

You will learn everything from consultation to after care for your future brides and bridal party members. We will cover the art of bridal makeup, as well as doing makeup for bridal party members. In terms of hairstyling, we cover loose styles, up-styles, Hollywood waves and couture styling. We cover trending techniques as well as traditional and classic techniques.

 

This course includes a professional bridal makeup kit and professional hairstyling kit. The hairstyling kit includes salon-grade heat tools, products and styling implements. Our kits include only professional brands.

You will not only receive hands on practical training, related theory, but also insight on how to start and manage your own successful business. This course will set you apart in the industry and is a recipe for success.

This course includes a practical and theory exam and will  grant you with a Certificate of Competence provided all exit criteria have been met

 

Course Layout:

Week 1: 

Hairstyling Lesson 1: Theory

You will learn all hairstyling related theory, the art of consultation and trials, as well as how to prepare the hair for styling. 

Makeup Lesson 1: Demonstration of a full glam makeup

You will get to see the makeup application from start to finish.

 

Week 2:

Hairstyling Lesson 2: Preparing The Hair

In this lesson you will learn how to blow wave the hair, create volume with rollers, backcombing techniques and how to create a basic curl.

Makeup Lesson 2: Makeup Theory 

You will receive a study guide with all the relevant theory that you will need to be a professional makeup artist. You will learn everything from makeup tools and products, colour theory, identifying undertones, how different lightning affects the outcome of makeup, how to contour and correct different face shapes, eye shapes, lip shapes and nose shapes.

Week 3:

Hairstyling Lesson 3: Bohemian Styles

In this lesson, you will learn how to create different braid styles and how to create mermaid waves.

Makeup Lesson 3: Related Dermatology Theory​

You will not only be learning makeup theory but also related dermatology theory. You will learn about different skin types, the characteristics thereof and the recommended skincare regimens for each skin type. You will also learn about different skin concerns and conditions and how to recognise them. This will assist you with prepping the skin for the makeup applications, giving professional advice to your clients and knowing whether or not you can do the makeup application without putting yourself or the client at risk. You will also learn the importance of hygiene and sterilisation in makeup artistry.

Week 4:

Hairstyling Lesson 4:

Makeup Lesson 4: Brow Mapping and Soft Glam (on yourself)

In this lesson, you will learn how to do brow mapping in order to achieve the ideal brow shape and proportions for each client as well as symmetry. You will complete a natural and soft glam with focus on skin prep and achieving a flawless base. You will also cover contouring with cream products.

Week 5:

Hairstyling Lesson 5: Kim K Upstyle and Face Framing 

In this lesson you will learn how to frame and contour the face with the hair and the placement thereof as well as the viral Kim K upstyle. 

Makeup Lesson 5: Natural Bridal Look (on a model)

In this lesson you will learn how to create a soft focused look that appears natural but is long lasting. This will be perfect for your brides who don't want to wear a lot of makeup but still want to enhance their beauty.

Week 6:

Hairstyling Lesson 6: High Upstyling

You will learn how to create a clean and slick high pony tail as well as a half-up-half-down curled style with face framing.

Makeup Lesson 6: Radiant Bridal Look (on a model)

This lesson is all about creating and controlling shape with eyeshadow and introducing international blending techniques. You will also learn how to create a glowy eyeshadow and skin finish. From this day on, you will be applying false lashes to your models.

Week 7:

Hairstyling Lesson 7: Classic High Bun

In this lesson you will learn how to create a classic textured and clean high bun.

Makeup Lesson 7: Matte Soft Glam and Ombre Lip (on a model)

In this lesson, you will learn how to do one of the most popular soft glams, that we usually see on Kylie Jenner. This will teach you how to create shape and lift the eye with matte skin tonal shades and a smoked out liner. You will create a matte skin base too. You will also learn how to achieve a 90's inspired ombre lip application.

Week 8:

Hairstyling Lesson 8: Hollywood Waves Side Part

During this lesson, you will learn how to style structured hollywood waves with a side parting. 

Makeup lesson 8: Winged Liner Focus (on a model)

In this lesson, you will learn how to master the perfect winged liner using powder and liquid based products. We use techniques that allow you to follow a method and create a perfect wing on any eye shape.

Week 9:

Hairstyling Lesson 9: Classic Large Low Bun

In this lesson, you will learn how to couture styling and how to use large padding to create a large low bun. 

Lesson 9: Half Cut Crease (on a model)

This lesson is all about structure and detail with creating a half cut crease eyeshadow look. You will also use subtle colour for the first time and create a full glam finish on the skin.
 

Week 10: 

Hairstyling Lesson 10: Audrey Hepburn High Bun with Faux Fringe

In this lesson, you will revisit face framing and create a faux fringe with a sleek padded high bun. 

Makeup Lesson 10: Glam Bridal (on a model)

It's time for colour application. You will be achieving a multi-colour blend with your eyeshadow as well as a cut crease. This is the lesson where your creativity can spark. You will be achieving a warm-toned look with a gold glitter cut crease and a red lip.
 

Week 11:

Hairstyling Lesson 11: Hollywood Waves Mid Parting

During this lesson, you will learn how to style unstructured hollywood waves with a middle parting. 
Makeup Lesson 11: Theory Exam 

The day has come where it's time to get certified. In order to get your certification, you will need to pass your theory exam with 50%. Your theory exam will include the related makeup and dermatology theory as well as how to prepare for a bridal party.

Week 12:

Hairstyling Lesson 12: Practical and Theory Exams

The day has come where it's time to get certified. In order to get your certification, you will need to pass your practical and theory exams. You will bring in a model to create a specified bridal hairstyle.

Makeup Lesson 12: Practical Exam

The day has come where it's time to get certified. In order to get your certification, you will need to pass your practical exams. You will bring in a models to create a specified look on a bridesmaid and a bride. The pass rate is 50% of which we currently have a 100% practical pass rate.
